My Friend Rachel

When I first attended Speak Up in July 2023, Rachel Wojo was clearly someone I needed to pay attention to. When I returned this summer, I was fortunate enough to meet and speak with her. She was leading a pre-conference session on AI which completely intimidated me.

Something divine happens at Speak Up. These aren’t just women who enjoy their platform and say, “Good luck. Hope all goes well for you”. When they tell you that they want to walk along with you on this journey, they mean it; they follow through. Rachel was no exception. When I was selected to be included in the EA Publishing project, Rachel presented me with the certificate.

At Rachel’s merchandise table was information regarding her upcoming book: Desperate Prayers ~ Embracing the Power of Prayer in Life’s Darkest Moments. Without hesitation, I pre-ordered. There was a definite conviction that drew me in.

A few weeks after the conference, I had some questions that Rachel was gracious enough to answer. We spoke briefly on the phone. Before our conversation ended, she extended an invitation to attend her upcoming live book launch. To be brutally honest, I had no idea what that even meant. I’m new enough to this industry that I’m still pretty much clueless about those things. But God keeps presenting these incredible opportunities and I find myself just wanting to be obedient. I officially sent my RSVP and marked the date on my calendar.

Between work, Robyn Dykstra’s Christian Speakers Boot Camp, chores at the house, and other commitments, I was honestly exhausted before the week even started. Even so, I felt very strongly that I was to make the three-hour drive to Delaware, Ohio to spend the evening supporting Rachel. I’m so glad I followed through.

The venue was amazing. Rachel’s family was a sweet touch to the evening. Support from fellow writers and speakers (like Erica Wiggenhorn) was very encouraging. Rachel shared a few excerpts from the book. I was honored to have been a part of her launch team and receive a download of the book prior to its official release.

To some degree, we’ve all misunderstood God and prayer. Rachel acknowledges our questions and encourages us to lean in and voice those desperate longings of our heart. You won’t be disappointed; I promise.
